Popular vape brands get copied, and the copies can be hard to tell apart. You cannot test a device at home, but you can catch most fake THC vapes by looking carefully before you use them. Here is the checklist we use.
The 10-point checklist
- Box print. Logos, crests and lettering should be sharp. Blurry print, smudged colors or crooked labels are warning signs.
- Spelling. Real brands rarely misspell their own flavors. Check the flavor name, the strain label and the small print.
- Flavor and strain match. The flavor and strain on the box should match the device and the product photo.
- Edition art. Brands with several editions use different art for each one. Hitz Safari has jungle art, Players Club has dice and cards, Limited Series is black and gold.
- Device build. Seams, buttons and mouthpieces should feel solid. Loose parts or leaking oil are a reason to stop.
- Oil look. Look through the window if there is one. Unusual color, separation or particles are red flags.
- Seals. Check that shrink wrap, stickers or seals are intact.
- Price. Prices far below the usual range anywhere you shop are the most common sign of a copy.
- Seller. Buy from a seller that shows clear photos, publishes prices and answers messages.
- Your gut. If something feels off, do not use it.
Brand-specific checks
- Hitz: match the box to the edition, then the flavor and strain.
- Favs 3G: compare the device color and artwork with the product photo.
- Hollow Tips: gold bullet body, frosted tip, white flavor boxes marked “10 units”.
- Stealthy: white master box with a silver S; flavor boxes show the device color and strain.
- Cook’d: white pouch with a candy bowl and the orange COOK’D name.
What to do if a device looks off
Do not use it. If you bought it from us, message us with your order number and photos before using it, and see our Refund Policy. If you bought it elsewhere, contact that seller. We cannot inspect devices bought from other stores.
